A 300 level student of Mass Communication Department of Kwara State University（KWASU）, Malete, Adegboye Abdulmumeen Babatunde has emerged as the newly elected regional secretary for the National union of campus journalist（NUCJ）North central unit.
The election which was keenly contested by candidates from University of ilorin, Federal polytechinc Offa and Kwara state University malete saw adegboye abdulmumeen from kwasu won the election with the total number of 7 votes as against 5 votes each for the other contestant.
The delegates from Enugu State University of Technology （ESUT）who settled the scores when it was tied said they supported kwasu based on manifesto and admonished the newly elected leader to use his experience to develop the union more than what people expect.
“ we saw professionalism in him, alot of experience, we saw how the school has nurtured the candidate professionally and ethically, he worth it , that is why we voted him.” They said.
in his word, Adegboye，appreciate the efforts and supports rendered to him by the entire students of Kwasu and all members of NUCJ nation wide.
According to him he said that he new voters gave the mandate to him based on the manifesto that he delivered, adding that “this is a priority to him another work has started and i am ready to give all my best to this work, North central shall be well represented in the world of pen pusher and you won’t have regret for doing this.“
The National President of the union, Com. T. B joshua congratulated the winner and call on all members of NUCJ North Central unit to work harmoniously in keeping the flag of union flying and protecting the interest of campus journalist in the region.
The Mass Communication Department President of Kwara state university, Com. Daranijo Habeeb Opeyemi appreciate the students of the department for their supports, members of UCJ North central unit and the national body for conducting an hitch-free election, he call on journalist to uphold the truth and fight for national unity by resisting fake news and unvetted reports.
Adegboye promised to always placed the members of the union’s interest above other thing and ensure equal representation in the affairs of the union among the members school.
more so, the candidate acknowledged the support of kwasu vice- chancellor Prof. Abdulrasheed Nallah, Head of Mass communication Department, Dr. isiaka Aliagan and all the staff of the university for their support and fatherly role everytime.
