The department of mass communication, kwara state university malete held an historic student/Staff congress yesterday at ICT auditorium of the college of information and communication Technology.
This was done to address and orientate the students of the department on issues facing them started from missing result, discipline, dress code, Association reports to narrow casting and weekly bulleting.
The event was hosted by the acting Head of department, Dr. Isiaka aliagan, which had the members of teaching staff on attendance, victor babatunde, Agnes Joe shaibu, Dr. Semiu bello, Mr. Suleman yusuff, Habibat Na'Allah and perpetua umeakwu.
On missing grade and result, Agnes addressed the issue and guided the students on how to rectify such issue. In a similar way, the head of department called for students comportment and maturity in managing information and school property.
Victor babatunde sensitized the students on need to be disciplined by encourage them to be of good behavior in learning and character.
In the same vain, Dr. Semiu hello admonished the students to strictly adhere to department dress code as this will make them unique among their mates, he continued by sounding strong warning to defaulter as strict penalty is on ground for such a person.
The departmental association president, Sen. Daranijo Habeeb Opeyemi addressed the students on the issue of dress code by encouraging them to follow all the rules laid down by the department authority, he also explained the plans for generality of students and buttressed majorly on media tour, press ID card, press club and orientation for new intakes, he concluded by sounding a strong warning to students on cultism, gangsterism, indecent dressing and other.
Habibat Na'Allah also called on student to report any sexual harassment case to the department in charge.
