Enugu State University of Science and Technology ESUT finally agrees to extend the Deadline for payment of school fees to last week of December 2018 following a meeting the SUG executives led by Anichebe Moses Ugochukwu (aka Dr. South)
It was gathered yesterday that the SUG Executives stormed the Government house where they had a meeting with the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, with respect to the Deadline released by the school law week.
The SUG President, Anichebe Ugochukwu modes, in a statement Obtained by ESUT PRESS , said "the directive came from Governor after our meeting with him on Monday. We were able to make him understand the untold hardship it would cause to students seeing that the school has just resumed."
"We didn't do this inorder to receive praise or commendations from anyone because this is the very reason why we were elected."
"It is our utmost obligation to stand, speak and act on behalf of the students and to protect their interest and not that of the school. It is true that the school also has an interest but that of the students overrides it because it was the students elected us to protect theirinterest."
Furthermore, the SUG President enjoined those who have their school fees to still pay up immediately adding that they should not wait untill the school releases a Deadline for the payment.
ESUT PRESS reported yesterday that there was an alleged plan by some aggrieved students to carry out a massive protest against the Deadline.
To that effect the SUG President assured students that there is no cause for alarm as everything is already under control thus there is no need for any protest.
It was gathered yesterday that one of the SUG SSG aspirant, ifeanyieze Jaachike popularly known as Bobby, led a delegation of students comprising of students from Faculties of Applied Natural Sciences, Environmental Science and Law with Senate Sagent at Arm, Ugwu Richard Chukwuemeka, to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor's Office in respect of the sudden deadline for school fees payment.
The DVC on that note assured them and the students that the University is alreadyhandling the situation and that a positive consideration shall be given to calm the situation.
He further encouraged students of the University to maintain a peaceful environment both within and outside tje school premises and avoid any form of violent protest.
